Franklin Delano Roosevelt (1882–1945),  was the 32nd President of the United States. He served from 1933 to 1945, and is the only U.S. president to have served more than two terms. He was a central figure of the 20th century during a time of worldwide economic crisis and world war. He addressed the Great Depression through programs such as the New Deal, which provided employment opportunities through public works. He povided economic aid to Britain in the form of the Lend-Lease Act, and also initiated the Social Security Administration.
