Who is the mysterious woman in Leonardo DaVinci's masterpiece? Mona Lisa is named for Lisa del Giocondo, (c. 1502) the wife of a merchant of Florence. Lisa was a member of the Gherardini family of Florence and Tuscany who married Francesco del Giocondo, a silk merchant. In the DaVinci Code, it was conjectured that mona lisa was an anagram of Amon and Isis, Egyptian gods-with Isis rendered in French.... embed |
