The Golden Lion Tamarin is an endangered species
and among the rarest animals in the world, with an 
estimated wild population of 1,000 individuals and a 
captive population of about 500. It lives in the coastal
rain forests of Brazil and is threatened as only about
2% of its original habitat remains. The tamarin lives
high in the canopy of the forest eating insects and 
fruit. A full grown tamarin weighs only 1.5 pounds.
