The Giant Panda is an endangered animal; an
estimated 2,000 pandas live in the wild.  Over
180 are reported as living in captivity. The panda 
eats bamboo almost exclusively, but will 
occasionally eat fish and eggs. Because 
crushed bamboo is relatively low in nutritional 
value,  the panda eats between 20-30 pounds 
of shoots per day.
