Parnassius apollo (The mountain apollo) butterfly 
is found on mountains in Europe usually above 
1000 m in elevation up to 2000m. It resides in 
flowery meadows and mountain pastures. It is
regarded as one of the most beautiful butterflies,
but is threatened by changing climate and loss 
of habitat.
