Crystal skulls are made from blocks of clear or milky quartz, claimed to be pre-Columbian Mesoamerican artifacts. Contemporary scientific opinion is that the skulls are of 19th century European manufacture. They play a prominent role in films, comics, books, and other entertainment productions.
