Cognitive Labs
Combines Science with Fun, Launches mind-game portal
Mountain View, CA August 29, 2005. Cognitive Labs, a leader in
scientifically valid online cognitive testing used to detect and
monitor changes in cognitive performance caused by conditions such as
memory loss, today announced the launch of its Game Central mind-game
portal.
At Game Central, people
from all ages and walks of life can access
classic puzzle games, and reaction-time based Arcade-style games while
creating their own personalized cognitive baseline, or snapshot of
their memory and thinking speed in multiple dimensions. Cognitive Labs
scientifically tested almost 100,000 people while building on its
Archive of human memory which extends across age, education level, and
physical location.
Cognitive
Labs patent-protected technology is used at institutions like
Stanford and University of California in research studies involving
memory loss and neurological function, plus industry-sponsored clinical
trials where a high degree of accuracy is required. The
technology has been shown sensitive in detecting subtle changes for
various brain degenerative conditions to a greater degree than
traditional neuropsychological tests and correlates with results
achieved with Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) at a much lower cost.
Tests and tracking technology are combined with entertaining and
challenging games to create circuit-training for the mind, featuring
the first widely accessible meter or scale for detecting changes in
cognitive performance. The tests are available online and in retail
stores such as Walgreen’s and GNC where they are provided with product
from partner Natrol (Nasdaq: NTOL).
If an individual starts a diet or exercise program, changes nutritional
intake or lifestyle, or attends continuing education, the effects on
their mental fitness are easily observed over time with the easy to use
Memory For Life program. “What is needed,” observes Dr. Michael
Addicott, “is a scale or meter for the mind that makes following
cognitive activity almost as easy as weighing yourself or using an
online diet calculator. Now people can take cognitive fitness
into their own hands.”
The company’s mission is to open up the human mind to understanding
through open-source data. Take a free test, and the company’s
algorithms tell you how compare to others, tracking your
responses.
Cognitive Labs Game Central, MemCheck, and Memory for Life services are
